Erik Savas, a partner with Simpson Wigle Law LLP in its Hamilton office, has engaged in the practice of litigation since 2002. Erik enjoys a wide ranging commercial litigation practice. Routinely acting for entrepreneurs, large and small businesses as well as institutional lenders and trustees in bankruptcy, Erik brings to each of his clients knowledge, experience and drive. Erik’s focus in each case, large or small, is to develop and implement a strategy to secure the client’s optimal solution in a timely and cost effective manner.

Routinely acting for entrepreneurs, large and small businesses as well as institutional lenders and trustees in bankruptcy, Erik brings to each of his clients knowledge, experience and drive. Giving directed counsel to his business clients that considers their commercial and legal interests forms the core of Erik’s approach. Erik often appears in the Ontario Superior Court of Justice and the Ontario Court of Appeal. He has also appeared in the Human Rights Tribunal, the Landlord and Tenant Board and the Small Claims Court. Erik has substantial experience in:

  • Breach of contract;
  • Partnership and shareholder disputes;
  • Commercial landlord and tenant disputes;
  • Winding up of businesses;
  • Professional advisor negligence;
  • Director, officer and employee litigation, including breach of fiduciary duties;
  • Business-related torts;

Erik also is a seasoned and respected condominium litigator having acted since 2002 for many condominium corporations and property management firms relating to issues under the Ontario Condominium Act, 1998, the corporation’s declaration, by laws and or rules. Erik often acts in compliance cases, enforcement of condominium liens, shared facilities disagreements and construction deficiency cases. Erik regularly acts for condominium corporations, developers, property managers and owners in the Golden Horseshoe area and has substantial experience in mediation and arbitration of condominium related disputes under the Ontario Condominium Act, 1998.
