SimpsonWigle LAW LLP is currently seeking to hire an Insolvency and Restructuring
Associate with 5 – 8 years’ experience for our office in Burlington.
The successful candidate will be responsible for, but not limited to:
• Providing advice to banks and small to medium sized businesses, including acting as counsel to creditors, receivers and trustees in the context of proceedings, disputes and transactions;
• Collection/Power of Sale work;
• Providing legal opinions on risk management and asset preservation strategies;
• Advising on proposals, informal workouts, priority disputes, fraudulent transactions, reorganizations, asset recovery and receiverships; and
• Advising institutional lender clients such as banks, credit unions, as well as private corporations on all aspects of recovery for secured and unsecured loans.
Required experience/qualifications:
• Strong academic achievements at a top-ranking law school
• 5 – 8 years of Insolvency and Restructuring experience
• Keen analytical, drafting, advocacy, research, organizational, written and oral communication
• Attention to detail with a high level of accuracy
• Thorough knowledge of the Ontario Rules of Civil Procedure and Practice Directions
• Familiarity with the Commercial List
• The ability to work both collaboratively with associates and partners and also independently
