SimpsonWigle LAW LLP is currently looking to hire a Litigation Law Clerk to join our team. The ideal candidate should have 1-3 years’ of litigation-related experience, be highly motivated and a self-starter.

The successful candidate will be responsible for, but not limited to:

  • Communicate professionally with clients and court staff
  • Independently manage files and ensure deadlines are met efficiently
  • Under supervision, prepare legal documents and correspondence according to precedents and/or instructions
  • Provide administrative support with respect to docketing and billing
  • Transcribing digital dictation
  • Organization and filing of hardcopy and electronic files
  • Stay updated on amendments to the Rules of Civil Procedure, regional Practice Directions and filing requirements
  • Coordinate service and filing of proceedings with agencies and courts through CaseLines/Case Center
  • Maintain an in-depth knowledge of legal terminology, court rules and procedures
  • Assist with general practice management, including maintaining due dates, oversee calendar appointments, etc.
  • Provide backup coverage during absences, and assist with overflow work when required
  • Produce the highest quality of work and accountable for all work assigned

Required experience/qualifications:

  • Completion of the Law Clerk course
  • A solid knowledge of legal office practice, legal terminology and procedure relating to legal correspondence and legal documents
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Attention to detail and high level of accuracy
  • Exhibit excellent commitment to client service and the maintenance of client confidentiality
  • Able to work independently in a fast-paced team-oriented environment
  • Experience with GhostPractice and iManage would be an asset but is not required.
