SimpsonWigle Law LLP is currently seeking a highly motivated and experienced Corporate/Commercial Litigator to join our growing litigation team in Hamilton, ON. As a Corporate/Commercial Litigator, you will both works as part of a team with the commercial litigation group and handle a variety of legal matters, including disputes related to business contracts, mergers and acquisitions, shareholder agreements, franchise disputes, and more. You will be responsible for managing cases from inception through to resolution, working closely with clients, senior partners, and other team members to deliver exceptional legal service.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Lead a variety of corporate commercial litigation matters, including contract disputes, shareholder remedies, debt collection, enforcement actions, business disputes, and estate litigation.
  • Represent clients in litigation, arbitration, and mediation across diverse industries.
  • Conduct comprehensive legal research, case analysis, and draft pleadings, motions, and legal opinions.
  • Independently manage files from inception to resolution, including court appearances, discovery, and settlement negotiations, with strong mentorship and support.
  • Work as part of the litigation team on complicated files.
  • Provide strategic legal counsel on dispute resolution and corporate governance best practices.

Required experience/qualifications:

  • Minimum of 4+ years of litigation experience, including Superior Court trials and motions.
  • Proven courtroom advocacy skills and experience managing complex legal disputes.
  • Expertise in contract law, shareholder disputes, debt enforcement, business and estate litigation.
  • Exceptional drafting, negotiation, and client management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple files with strategic foresight and leadership.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Membership in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario.
  • An entrepreneurial spirit with a strong desire to build and grow a practice.
