Position Summary

SimpsonWigle LAW LLP is seeking an experienced Employment Lawyer to join our Employment & Labour Law Group. The successful candidate will provide strategic legal counsel to a broad base of employer clients across a wide range of employment and labour matters. You will manage your own caseload, provide day-to-day client advice, and represent clients in negotiations and before courts and tribunals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide legal advice and risk management support to employers on all aspects of employment law including hiring, discipline, termination, and policy development.
  • Draft and review employment agreements, workplace policies, and termination packages.
  • Represent clients in employment litigation matters such as wrongful and constructive dismissal claims, human rights complaints, and employment standards disputes.
  • Advise on compliance with workplace legislation, including the Employment Standards Act, Human Rights Code, and Occupational Health and Safety Act.
  • Represent clients before courts, tribunals, and administrative bodies, including the Ontario Labour Relations Board and the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario.
  • Assist employer clients with workplace investigations and collective bargaining (if applicable).
  • Develop and deliver workplace training sessions and seminars for clients.
  • Work collaboratively within a team environment, including mentoring junior lawyers and supporting the firm’s marketing and business development initiatives.

Qualifications

  • 5–8 years of post-call experience in employment and labour law.
  • Licensed and in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario.
  • Proven experience advising and representing employer clients.
  • Strong litigation, negotiation, and advocacy skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple files in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong business acumen and client service orientation.
  • Bilingualism (French/English) is an asset, but not required.
