SimpsonWigle LAW LLP is currently looking to hire a Litigation Legal Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate should have 1-2 years’ experience though not a prerequisite to applying, be highly motivated and a self-starter.

The successful candidate will be responsible for, but not limited to:

  • Communicate professionally with clients and court staff
  • Basic familiarity with Practice Direction set by different court regions
  • Produce and edit legal documents
  • Draft correspondence for approval
  • Assist with general practice management, including maintaining due dates, oversee calendar appointments, etc.
  • Provide backup coverage during absences, and assist with overflow work when required
  • Provide administrative support with respect to docketing and billing
  • Produce the highest quality of work and accountable for all work assigned

Required experience/qualifications:

  • A completion of a post secondary Legal Assistant or Law Clerk course
  • A solid knowledge of legal office practice, legal terminology and procedure relating to legal correspondence and legal documents
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Attention to detail and high level of accuracy
  • Exhibit excellent commitment to client service and the maintenance of client confidentiality
  • Able to work independently in a fast-paced team-oriented environment
  • Experience with GhostPractice and iManage would be an asset.
