About Maria Durdan

AREAS OF EXPERTISE

Maria Durdan is the Assistant Managing Partner at SimpsonWigle LAW and the Chair of the Condominium Practice Group, practicing primarily in Condominium Law, Land Development and Administration. Maria supports over 675 of the firm’s residential, commercial and mixed-use condominium corporation clients throughout Ontario.

Maria has obtained her Associate of Canadian Condominium Institute (ACCI) designation in law, which recognizes that Maria has achieved a high level of knowledge and skill of condominium law. Maria is the President of the Canadian Condominium Institute (CCI), Golden Horseshoe Chapter, is co-chair of education committee for CCI, and is a Member of the Association of Condominium Managers of Ontario (ACMO). She frequently presents at seminars and writes on condominium-focused topics for CCI and ACMO.

Maria’s practice includes acting for developers in land assemblies, preparing applications and documentation for subdivision and condominium registration and site plan approvals as well as advising boards of directors and property managers on all areas of condominium law and administration including:

  • Preparation of declaration and bylaw amendments and interpretation, enforcement of rules, bylaw infractions, and attending owners and board meetings to address issues;
  • Contracts;
  • Land development;
  • Amalgamations;
  • Shared facilities agreements;
  • Common element alterations and section 98 agreements;
  • Financing;
  • Procedures for owners’ and board meetings;
  • Liens.
